Direct Light Photoscan 3, 2011 examines photography's relationship with light, technology and process. Using a scanner as an image-making device, Andrew Beck records light directly rather than depicting conventional subjects. The resulting abstraction challenges traditional photographic practice while exploring perception, materiality and the mechanics of image production.
